IMPORTANT NOTES
For correct installation of the QuickCam, it is necessary to install the software BEFORE connecting your Logitech USB camera to the computer. The Windows hardware wizard may start if you connect the device prior to software installation. If the message "An unknown device has been detected." is displayed, click on the Cancel button and continue with installation instructions on the quick start guide.
INSTALLATION NOTES
- You will need to have Administrator privileges to install the QuickCam software under Windows XP and Windows Vista.
- If you are running any anti-virus or anti-spyware utilities, please allow Logitech software to register itself or some features may be missing or malfunction.
- The QuickCam software requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or later for proper operation.
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 is required for installation.
- When connecting a Logitech camera (UVC-enabled) under Vista OS, there is an automatic check for updated Logitech drivers from Windows Update. If there is an available driver, it can be downloaded and installed.
- Logitech will post updated drivers on Windows Update, as they become available. If using this software under XP SP2 it is recommended to check the Windows Update site or Logitech Website for occasional updated releases.
- Once a driver is downloaded and installed from Windows Update, there will be a check to ensure the matching software release for Quickcam software is also installed. If it is not, then Logitech will provide an application that allows one to update from CD or check the Logitech website if one so chooses. If available the software will be downloaded and installed.
- It is recommended that if one is upgrading from XP (32 bit) to Vista (32 bit) with an older release of Quickcam software, that one checks the Logitech Website for the latest software release.
- During the connect camera portion of the installation, there may be a delay in recognizing the camera. This delay is expected not to exceed 30 seconds.
- If after the installation the camera is not detected. Simply disconnect and reconnect the camera. If using a hub, it is highly suggested to connect to a hub that is directly connected to the host system.
- After installation, review the desired settings on the application pane of the QuickCam installation, to ensure the desired audio in, email client, and other settings are consistent with desired intent and setup.
KNOWN ISSUES
- For proper camera functionality, please be sure to have the latest Windows updates and service packs installed.
- If Windows Installer 3.1 (KB893803) is not installed on the system, the software will do so before continuing installation.
- To avoid any video or audio compatibility issues, please be sure to have the latest drivers for your video and sound cards installed.
- QuickCam Orbit/Sphere MP mechanical pan and tilt and face tracking is not supported above 640 x 480.
- Video Effects and Privacy Shades will function in Vista 64 and Windows x64 only when using 32 bit applications.
- CPU consumption may be a bit higher when using video effects on AMD processors.
- For those cameras supporting auto focus, there may be times that auto focus continues to adjust when the area of interest remains complete still.
- The email feature available with QuickCam is dependent on MAPI (Windows Messaging API) compliance of the underlying MAPI client. If the desired email client is not MAPI compliant, then the email will not attach the desired picture.
- When using various video clients in conjunction with video effects, slow connections resulting from the network bandwidth or specific limitation of the IM client can result in a very static (unanimated) experience.
- There are some video clients that may require the video effects to be enabled twice. The first attempt will fail; however, all subsequent uses will succeed.
- To present available hot key support within the application press the <ALT> key. Once the <ALT> key is pressed, the supported hot keys available will be identified.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- "Camera is currently in use by another application"
- If you receive an error of this type, check the following:
- Another application may be utilizing the camera. Only one application can use the camera at a time.
- Verify that the camera is connected to the USB port.
- Verify that the USB port on the computer is enabled (check the computer documentation)
- The USB port is not functioning. Connect it to another port. If using the camera on a hub, try connecting it directly to the USB port on the back of the computer.
- The camera driver is not installed. Reinstall the QuickCam software.
- "An error occurred in the Software" when attempting to use Video Effects.
- If you receive this error, reboot the system. This is usually the result of a Instant Messaging (IM) Client installing in admin mode when they should be installing in User mode. Contact the particular client to find out when installation will support user mode. Rebooting the system corrects this problem.
